A carrier's own tools report what the network believes it is doing. Counters aggregate, planning tools predict, and neither is the same as a measurement taken from the street. A field campaign gives an independent read on whether a launch delivered what was designed, and where the gap sits.

A device that passes in a lab passed under controlled conditions. In the field it meets weak signal, congested cells, handovers at speed, and carriers that behave differently from one another. This is where a connected product finds out whether its modem, its antenna placement and its retry logic hold up.

A fleet gathering camera, audio and sensor data needs people who can drive a route to a plan for hours, notice what changed, and hand back a session somebody can trust. That is the same shift I have run against wireless networks for years, and the same report at the end of it. The sensor in the boot is the part that differs.

Public safety coverage is signed off against a grid, area by area, with a pass or fail per square rather than an average across a building. The requirement is usually a minimum signal across a stated percentage of the floor area, and the authority having jurisdiction wants evidence rather than assurance.

A distributed antenna system is designed on a floor plan and then built by people working from it. Walk testing is where the two are compared: whether every antenna is live and fed at the right level, whether coverage reaches the stairwells and basements the design promised, and whether the handover to the macro network at the doors is clean.

A carrier benchmarking itself has an interest in the result, and everyone reading the report knows it. Independent collection, matched devices and identical routes are what make the comparison defensible, whether it is being used internally to decide where to invest or externally to support a claim.
